Daphne McFarlane & Joan Whittington Scholarship

Daphne McFarlane and Joan Whittington were two extraordinary mothers who raised 7 children dictated to service. Three of those children went into the field of nursing with one earning a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. This scholarship was created in their memories to encourage and motivate those with a compassion to serve and heal to pursue their passions.

Dawn Michelle Manigault – Best was a professional dancer early in her career, performing throughout the United States and Europe, and later a photographer, blogger, inventor and minimalist.

Dawn Michelle Manigault – Best was a force to be reckoned with.  As a student Dawn excelled academically and attended college on a full four-year academic scholarship. She graduated from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in dance.  In the midst of all of her dance training, Dawn fell in love with science and research, which served her well later in life. 

Dawn was a professional dancer early in her career, performing throughout the United States and Europe, and later a photographer, blogger, inventor and minimalist. 

Dawn was a consummate professional in each of her endeavors.  She loved life and loved people.  As a daughter, sister, wife, and mother, Dawn spent her life helping others live healthier, vibrant more meaningful lives.  Her blog, Minimalist Beauty, had thousands of devoted followers and through it she effectively changed the lives of many thousands of people worldwide.
